Ship of Fools Mystery Worshipper

Posted by Joan Huyser-Honig

How would visitors to your church answer these questions?

  • Did anyone welcome you personally?
  • What happened when you hung around after the service looking lost?

You may be able to discover how at least one visitor answered—if your congregation is among the more than 2,000 churches reviewed by a Ship of Fools Mystery Worshipper. Volunteers visit churches all over the world and post online answers to a standard set of questions.

You can search by geographic area and year on the Mystery Worshipper site. Or use the Google search box to search within the website. You might search by church name (e.g. site:ship-of-fools.com “holy trinity, ocean city”) or city name (e.g. site:ship-of-fools.com edmonton) or denomination name (e.g. site:ship-of-fools.com “american baptist”). Even if there’s no review for your church, you’ll get ideas from other reviews on how to make your church more welcoming.
