Contemplative Youth Ministry: Listening to God Together
You know there’s got to be more to youth ministry than paintball, pancake breakfasts, pizza, and pop (or soda). But how do you get to the more? Dan Haugh, pastor of student ministries at Bedford Community Church in metro New York, has begun introducing contemplative practices such as centering prayer and lectio divina. “It’s been transformative. Every student is different, so what God says to them and how he ministers to them is unique for each person. But I see the difference in their eyes when they leave,” he says.
Resources
Walking the Road to Emmaus
Arguably no narrative in all of Scripture is as rich in imaginative possibilities for its use in worship—and also for helping us reconsider the significance of worship—as the Emmaus road narrative in Luke 24. This section explores how this narrative shapes our worship and our hope in the risen Christ.
Resources
Presiding in Worship
These resources explore the art of leading worship and reading scripture meaningfully in public worship. Intentional use of body and voice can enable a congregation to worship more deeply.

Your Psalms Stories: Request from David Van Biema
We were delighted to have David Van Biema, whose religion reporting you’ve probably read in Time magazine, with us at this past Worship Symposium. If you attended Symposium you may have seen his request for your stories about the Psalms in your faith journey. Please note that if you responded to this request at that time, you’re asked to respond again. We hope you share your stories and pass this request along to someone else who has a story to tell.
