Dunkirk, a beautiful city on the southern shore of Lake Erie, is home to many small congregations of various denominations. St John’s has invited several of these congregations to partner with them in the process of worship renewal. A workshop titled “Integrity In Worship, Using the Arts Worshipfully” is scheduled to be led by Robin Knowles Wallace in November.

The 12 member worship planning team has been studying books about worship and coming together weekly or bi-weekly to discuss what they are learning. In September the first jointly-planned worship service was held. They were encouraged by the conversation it generated within the congregation. They had begun the grant year with an event to engage the congregation in the year long process of worship renewal. Pastor Thomas Lawton and members of the leadership team who met with me are enthusiastic about their project and the way members and other congregations are partnering together.
