Rev. Rachel Metheny, Associate Pastor, and Chris Schroeder, Minister of Music/Organist welcomed me to Broadway United Methodist Church on a beautiful November afternoon. They told me about the workshops that have already taken place and plans for the upcoming weekend with Brian Wren. Chris has created a choral arrangement of words written by Brian Wren that will be sung in worship on Sunday. The workshop will offer instruction for those who wish to learn about using words in worship.

Rachel and Chris report that members of the congregation have engaged in the workshops and in conversation related to worship. People are asking questions about worship and sharing with others what they are learning. They have been encouraged by the participation in worship of youth and members of all ages.

The workshops have also drawn members of neighboring congregations. It is their hope that the workshops will create a foundation for ongoing collaboration with these churches.

As the Grant Implementation Team guides the congregation in affirming the history of the church while exploring what worship might mean in the context of their changing neighborhood, we look forward to learning with and from them.
