Reflections from Siberia on Indigenous Worship

I was sitting in a small church in the outskirts of Ulan Ude, a Russian city in Siberia just north of Mongolia, attending a consultation on Contextualized Worship for the indigenous peoples of the Siberian region. God had already pulled a few strings just to get me there and I knew it was a privilege to be with this group of Christians from the Buryat, Altai, Tuvan and Sakha peoples, as well as with missionaries from Russia, the U.S. and Europe who had been working in this region for years.

I was excited to be a part of this initial gathering and to have an opportunity to share some of what God has been doing in my own life and among our Navajo people as we have begun to ask the question of “What does it mean to be Navajo and Christian?”
