Pastors from rural congregations gathered at Columbia Theological Seminary for the conference, “Retooling the Toolbox” to learn and worship together.
I was grateful to have been invited to introduce participants to The Ten Core Convictions, Vertical Habits, and what we have learned through the Worship Renewal Grants. Bonnie Orth, project director for the 2008 grant to Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church in Mayfield, New York and 2009 Rural Ministry Fellow planned the conference, led us in worship and offered a workshop “Reclaiming the Tool of Self Care.” Professor Rodger Nishioka led a study of Jeremiah 32, a lesson in hope for pastors in small rural congregations.
Trace Haythorn, Director of FTE, Kimberly Bracken Long and Tom Tewell offered worships of information and encouragement for participants.
