On a stormy night, representatives of 8 churches gathered at Candler School of Theology to learn from congregations who have engaged in worship renewal. We were grateful to be joined by
Dr. James Abbington, a member of the Worship Renewal Grants Advisory Board. He reported on his recent visit to Kairos Community AME Church in Nashville, TN as a part of their 2009 Worship Renewal Grant project and commented on the renewal he has observed during the years he has served on the Advisory Board.

We were saddened to learn that many who had hoped to join us this evening were prevented from coming due to water in their homes and roads that had been washed away in what proved to be historic flooding. Those of us able to be there were encouraged in our conversation and learning. The evening concluded with a tour led by Mary Lou Boice of the collection of art by John August Swanson. We are grateful to Mary Lou and Tom Gildemeister for graciously hosting the workshop.

I was so disappointed that I had class on monday night and was unable to drive to atlanta in time to make it (thinking back, I'm not sure the roads I needed to take were dry enough at the time anyway). I would have loved to connect with CICW friends so close to my home turf!
