Surrounded by the towering buildings of the University of Michigan, historic Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) gathers worshipers on a beautiful spring morning.

As Pastor Irvin Green welcomes us he notes the numerous denominations that are represented. Truly we are a multicultural, multidenominational congregation today. As members of the congregation give announcements about upcoming activities, it is evident that this church reaches out to the homeless in their community and to hurting people around the globe.
The message, focused on Psalm 19, challenged us to see the passage as a resolution, much as a city might make a resolution in honor of some significant person and action. We were encouraged to celebrate God’s creation as creation celebrates God.

To do our work with joy as the sun is joyful in its labor. Together we shared the bread and cup of Christ’s Table and were sent from this place into the world.
Memorial Christian Church is partnering with Guild House Campus Ministry in creating and implementing a year -long project of worship renewal funded through a 2008 Worship Renewal Grant.
We are grateful for the exploration of the congregation and university students who seek to worship together in ways that unite them and draw them closer to God.
As we left the worship service it was encouraging to talk with JoElla who planned and led worship that morning. She expressed gratitude for the resources available on the CICW website. We are grateful for the leadership and members of Memorial Christian Church as they engage with us in Worship Renewal.
