Prodigal Son Exhibit featured at Worship Symposium
Monday, January 19th, 2009
We are delighted to reflect on Larry and Mary Gerbens’ collection of art on the theme of the prodigal son at Symposium this year, and to center on the parables of Jesus in our worship this year. More information about this exhibit from the Calvin College Center Art Gallery:
In 2008-09 Larry and Mary Gerbens donated their collection of prodigal son artwork to their alma mater Calvin College. To celebrate this gift, the Calvin College Center Art Gallery will hold an exhibit January 7 – February 7, 2009. This exhibit is held in conjunction with the Calvin Symposium on Worship. Following the exhibit, these pieces will join the college’s permanent collection.
This collection arose out of a love for and belief in the impact of the visual arts in our flourishing as God’s human creatures. The works of art are the visual testimonies of wonderfully gifted artists on the nature of forgiveness as expressed in the parable of the prodigal son.
