Presenter Previews: Erik Carter and Barbara Newman at Symposium 2009

Among over 70 presenters at this year’s Calvin Symposium on Worship will be two leading voices on including persons with disabilities in worshiping communities. Erik Carter is assistant professor of special education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and author of Including People with Disabilities in Faith Communities: A Guide for Service Providers, Families, and Congregations. Barbara Newman is a church and school consultant for CLC Network (Christian Learning Center) and author of Helping Kids Include Kids with Disabilities and Autism and Your Church. Carter and Newman will lead a workshop on “Building a Healthy and Interdependent Church Community,” and Carter will later speak on “Better Together: The Call for People with and without Disabilities to Worship, Serve, Learn, and Live Alongside Each Other.”
